Why is This Mini Hard to Get?

 ME-12 Strider on Foot

Finally managed to get Strider on foot at a (semi) reasonable price. The reason why I say this is because it seems much easier to get the mounted mini than the mini on foot? In fact I have often found the mounted mini for less money than the foot mini. I can only assume that the mounted mini was produced in the same numbers as the foot mini.  They were only ever sold as a set! But the mini on foot seems rarer and so at a higher price.  Still money has been spent and the painting can commence.

As always thanks to Stuff of Legends from stopping me, having to root around in an incredibly hot loft to find my Citadel compendium.

No painting this week  as I was away on business but I did get to see a very nice French castle. And of course a few beers.

Enjoy the weekend

This is NOT a castle

Or Fort or a Keep

It is actually Lime kilns but had a real dwarven keep vibe. Up near Montrose in Scotland.

Couldn't really taste the Elderflower but a very nice light ale.

More Castles in Northern Spain

The Hillfort of Haza

My tour of the castles of northern Spain continues whilst working in the region. This time it is the fortified village of Haza. The village is still occupied but about half of the houses are derelict. It was to see glorious in the setting sun.

That's Not a Castle

 This is a Castle!

Just realised this post has been sitting in draft for over year! So, time to post it.

I have been working in Spain over the last few weeks and took the opportunity to visit a couple of the local castles - Peñaranda de Duero &  Buitrago del Lozoya. Both in good condition and in a very distinctive local style. While no immediate plans to jump to wargames set in Spain they did  make me think about different styles and designs. And I did find a couple of interesting wargaming inspiration pieces on the history of these places.

Castle of Buitrago del Lozoya

The Castle of Buitrago del Lozoya is a castle is inside the walls of the walled town of  Buitrago del Lozoya. Built in the 15th century.

Castle of Peñaranda de Duero

Situated on top of a sizable hill it commands whole of the valley below. It was definitely a brisk walk up to the top. First built in the the 11th century and updated in the 15th century.

The castle is a narrow walled area, with a four story keep rising from the centre. Obviously under going some renovation work. It very much reminded me of some of the sites used by Game of Thrones and I believe some of the scenes were shot in one of the surrounding region.

I was too late to go into the castle but if I am in the area again it would well worth a another try.
