A Horde of Slann

 As long as a Horde of Two Counts again*

Fresh off the boat, the zombies get 

into the party vide of Lustra.

More Slann painted using lesser paints from my collection. In other words, the ones at the back that I don't use very often. It was only after painting the second one, I realised my mistake. I had stuck on the shield on upside down. In my defence, I was tired, confused, distracted or just plain dumb*. Anyway, given that he was already half finished, I decided to carry on.

*Delete or substitute as appropriate.

To save you getting neckache, 

I have turned it round.

After not painting any of the lovely Diehard Slann for nearly two years, I actually finished two in a week. At this rate it will only take me another few years or few weeks!

So, as it is Friday, you know what that means.

Slann, Hunters & More Mobs

 A Friday Night Mix Up of Projects 

Working on a number of different projects at the moment. Finally got around to slapping some paint on the next Diehard Slann mini. I am deliberately trying to use some paints that I don't use as much, from the back of painting shelf. So, expect more random paint combinations. 

A third mob base completed for gangs of Rome. Which means I now have enough mob bases to play a game. And finished off the final objective marker. So, time to get them on the table. 

And the Rhino clan face their biggest challenge when they take on a sabre toothed tiger for a mammoth carcass. I haven't yet written up the battle report. But I should hopefully get round to it at some point in the weekend. 

And this proves why letting other people choose the beer can be a bad idea. But I will still manage to force it down 😏.

Painting Done on a Friday Night

Finally managed to finish off the 4th & 5th Romans to complete the first of the Roman mob bases. 

And work progresses on the Slann display base. 

And on to a Friday night beer.

Gangs of Rome Display Board

Obviously not the upper market part of the city!

I kept the building detachable so I

 could always add a different one. 

So, it's probably no surprise to those who read the last blog post that most of my hobby time has been spent just trying to work on the gangs of Rome display board. I was really pleased with the flaking plaster effect on building which was a complete accident. Which was backing paper left when I peeled off the card from the foam card. So quick couple of pictures on a Friday night before I sit down and finish my beer.

An easy beer for a Friday night.

C08 High Elf Adverts

A quick post before Colours (in Newbury tomorrow). So, I have nearly completed my C08 high collection, with just one mini left (on order!). And Since I did one of these finished mini cards, I had to do a couple more.  Obviously thanks to Stuff of Legends for quick access to the originals.

I Seem To Have Been Here Before

Work Before Painting 

Been busy away for work in the last couple weeks So, not really any painting until this evening. When I managed to splash on some paint on my alternative Lurtz Uruk-Hai captain. Who  actually only has a very minor change with the Eye of Mordor shield design covered over with Green Stuff. And I just realised he has also got an Eye of Mordor design on his belt buckle that needs sorting. 

Plus picked up some damaged Rangers of Ithilien as one of the many next classic LotR minis that need painting. 

And I made up with the lack of painting with a couple of away beers.

Why is This Mini Hard to Get?

 ME-12 Strider on Foot

Finally managed to get Strider on foot at a (semi) reasonable price. The reason why I say this is because it seems much easier to get the mounted mini than the mini on foot? In fact I have often found the mounted mini for less money than the foot mini. I can only assume that the mounted mini was produced in the same numbers as the foot mini.  They were only ever sold as a set! But the mini on foot seems rarer and so at a higher price.  Still money has been spent and the painting can commence. 

As always thanks to Stuff of Legends from stopping me, having to root around in an incredibly hot loft to find my Citadel compendium. 

No painting this week  as I was away on business but I did get to see a very nice French castle. And of course a few beers.

Singapore Sling At Raffles Hotel 

Obviously not many posts in the last couple of weeks, as I was away for business in Singapore. But I did manage to sample a few local delights such as a Singapore sling in the famous Raffles bar & hotel.  Which will not be a replacement for a classic Friday night beer but nice for a change. As well as being famous for the Singapore sling, it also famous for chucking the peanut shells on the floor. So, when in Rome...

Horde of Orcs

As Long as Two Counts as a Horde 

Finished off two of the orcs from ME-51 Orcs of the Red Eye. I have been deliberately painting different skin tones for each of the different sets of Orcs. To be honest these orcs are looking a lot more purple in the pictures compared to real life.  

I started with a black leather (from Scalecolor) had blue tone which is why I moved through to the purple but I thought the Deathclaw brown would offset that. obviously not as much as I thought. But I am ok with the final result.  

Much happier with these eye of Sauron shield designs. I want them to look crude (they are orcs after all) but still have some artistic merit. 

And I have been looking forward to this one, as it is from a small(ish) brewery near to where I used to live. And never disappoints.

 Again with Another Ringwraith

Not a great deal of time for hobbying at the moment with work in general and trips in particular. But at least I am trying a few different beers! And I did manage to paint up Strider.
